In the final, Sharapova had to fight for two hours 28 minutes before closing the win over Kvitova 6-4, 2-6 and 6-3. It became the fifth win over Sharapova tennis player from the Czech Republic.
"It's never easy to play against Petra. Enough you do not always get a good rhythm. Player he became more aggressive in the second set. I think I took a little too much of a step back and let him play like that," said Sharapova.
"But I can raise my game again in the third set and came out as the winner," he added.
Sharapova is now ranked fourth in the world sitting on it also will soon rise to the world number two thanks to this victory.
